Most of the beautiful beaches are situated on the west coast of Phuket, while the east cost is heavily subjected to the tide and the sand is quite muddy.
We will skip the well known beaches such as Patong beach, sadly famous for the crazy and questionable night life; going there once or twice is more than enough to have a bite of extravagant experience. Karon and its adjacent Kata beach are very popular among young generations and family friend destinations for the middle class, with a few luxury exceptions in terms of structures and restaurants.
We would like to introduce Phuket as a place rich of other magnificent sights and secluded beaches, in geographical order from north to the south.
Up north nearby the airport, Nai Yang is a protected natural park beach, Sirinath. Having the feeling to stay on a small island with a few luxury resorts just outside the natural park, it's the ideal destinations for those who don't mind to be isolated and enjoy a peaceful stay.
A pine grove separate the road from the beach, an ideal setting to protect yourself from the hottest hours or set a romantic picnic or dinner.
A coral reef make this area suitable for swimming almost all year long and during the low season it's a perfect destination for the latest kite boarding experience.
In the environment of classy and stylish resorts, Bang Tao Beach and the adjacent Layan beach are a great choice for your stay in Phuket. This is the ideal destination for discerning families as well as for golf and spa lovers. Integrated in the sea lagoon and surrounded by a wonderful nature, luxury hotels offer extraordinary services, daily sport activities, music entertainments, romantic settings for dinner and special care for children's fun.
Guests heading to Bang Tao have everything at their disposal for a quite and relaxing but fun holiday, a concept close to a luxury holiday village. Many luxury villas development raised in this area, suitable for large families, for special celebrations or just for a total privacy accommodation.
For those who like to stay closer to the nightlife while keeping their privacy in a top level environment, we strongly recommend Surin Beach area which houses some of the chicest resorts of the island. Quiet and cosy, Surin is an enchanting destinations for people who like to stay in design hotels, eat in fancy restaurants and have peaceful strolls on one of Phuket nicest beaches.
Wine tastings, beach dining, fancy cocktails and dancing floors are all at walking distance from Surin accommodations, while at daytime it might be interesting to visit the surrounding area with its colourful local markets, shopping malls and a few mosques. Surin is also near to the spectacular Las Vegas style Fantasea theatre, where hundreds of artists and animals are performing shows everyday.
Nai Harn Beach is a lovely location for a private and healthy stay.
The beach is not very long but it's one of our favourite for its tranquillity, with a small inlet filled by the tide during the low season for a safe swim all year long. The area hides small secluded beaches that only a few connoisseurs will know about them. Most foreigners have chosen Nai Harn as their permanent or seasonal residence and it makes the area less beaten by mass tourism. There are a few luxury hotels and several fine restaurants, but the best choice is to rent a villa with all comforts of a five stars hotel.
Close to Nai Harn is Rawai Beach, which is rather a wide bay for boat anchoring.
Except for a few small unknown beaches, swimming is not really suitable, but it's worth a visit for a local style dining and enjoy fresh fish. This is a great location for those who prefer to enjoy a seafront accommodation in the nature and make Rawai a quiet starting point to enjoy Phuket attractions and its numerous nearby islands by speedboats or long tail boats.
Cape Panwa is the south-eastern point of the island, about one hour drive from the airport. Being a natural pier and facing the east Chalong bay, the area is perfect to rent a yacht charter or a catamaran to visit the Phang Nga bay or to sail further to the famous Phi Phi Islands; it is also a perfect gateway to the southern islands of the Phuket archipelago. Cape Panwa offers one of the most stunning views of Phuket sunsets over Chalong bay islands, with hill top luxury hotels and villas for accommodation and the finest dining restaurants and lounge bars.
